In Her Closet – Episode 17 – It’s New Yorks Fashion Bomb , Claire Sulmers!!!

I’ve been holding up on this one for some days now, let’s just say I’m still star struck…lol! Claire Sulmers, the Editor and Founder of the Fashion Bomb Daily, one of the top 50 most influential style sites in the world and the number one multicultural online fashion magazine with features in Paris and Italian Vogue is on this episode of In Her Closet.

She was in Nigeria for her first time sometime last year where she hosted her fashion event Cocktails with Claire. It was like fashion weekend in Lagos.

She obviously enjoyed her stay because she was back again just last weekend for the GTbank fashion weekend.

Out and about with Efe Tommy of Uberstyle, Jennifer Of Polo Avenue and Moses ebite, Celebrity Stylist in her most recent visit to Lagos.

If i get started on her profile in the fashion industry, I’d never get this post done. But there’s no doubt as to why she’d remain major #goals for me.

When your team is so fly. Claire, Ty Tryone and

She was one of those people I e-mailed just because. I wasn’t exactly expecting a response but here I am actually doing the interview. ENJOY!!!

JAY: The fashion bomb daily is one of the biggest and most influential style sites in the world. How did you find yourself in this line of fashion and style?

CLAIRE: I started off writing for magazines like New York, Newsweek, and Real Simple magazines before discovering my love for fashion and launching Fashion Bomb Daily.

Editor, Fashion Bomb Daily

JAY: You sleep and breathe fashion and style, how will you define it? What does it mean to you?
CLAIRE: We all have to wear clothes, so why not wear fabulous clothes? They express your personality, mood, and sometimes your aspirations for life.  They can define a moment in time or a moment in history. Fashion brings me joy and puts pep in my step.

JAY: 9 of every 10 women love shoes, how important are shoes to you in putting together an outfit?
CLAIRE: Shoes are the most important part of any outfit in my opinion. Many ensembles have been ruined by poor shoe choice.

Get the shoes wrong?, you ruin the whole outfit.

JAY: Would you splurge on a luxury pair of shoes or consider an inspired option from a high street brand?
CLAIRE: I definitely invest in shoes, but also mix high and low.

JAY:Who’s your favorite luxury footwear designer and why?
CLAIRE: I love Alaia shoes because their designs are unmatched AND they are comfortable.

JAY: Where’s your favorite place to shop for shoes knowing you’d be spoilt for choice?
CLAIRE: Bergdorf Goodman, Barney’s, or Jeffrey’s.

JAY: What’s that one shoe style you think every woman should own a pair?
CLAIRE: Everyone should have a classic black pump and every woman should have a simple pair of sandals (think Stuart Weitzman Nudist)

JAY: Approximately how many shoes can we find in your closet?

CLAIRE: I haven’t counted…but I’d say I have about 50 pairs of shoes (?)

JAY: What has been your biggest moment/achievement in the world of fashion (- maybe someone you met, a place you worked, something big you never could have imagined would happen).
CLAIRE: I think it was when I got my internship at Paris Vogue. It was my first ‘in’ at a prestigious fashion magazine. I met with fashion legend Carine Roitfeld, and she liked me enough to bring me onto her team.

JAY: Any embarrassing shoe moments you’d like to share??
CLAIRE: Sure! This happened:
Way before I was buying Louboutins, Zanotti’s, and Alaia, I was wearing affordable brands, like Bronx Shoes. I was walking one day on 5th avenue in New York city and my shoe broke! But after that , I started investing in my shoes.
JAY: The 2017 Spring/Summer collection has been released by most designers, what shoe trends do you see taking over the retail stores?
CLAIRE: Fabric boots and thigh highs.

JAY: Your no 1 shopping tip when shopping for shoes would be?
CLAIRE: Try them on, walk around in them. Make sure they’re comfortable and you have a little wiggle room. There’s nothing worse than having a great pair of shoes that hurt!

A pair that hurt is a waste of money.

JAY: If you had the chance to covet a celebrities shoe closet, whose would it be?
CLAIRE: Rihanna.

I had a dozen and more questions to ask Claire but I didn’t want to scare her away, lol! I look forward to doing some work with her someday. Until our next guest, perhaps FLOTUS? Hehehehe #impossibleisnothing.

Nice post. I learn something new and challenging on sites I stumbleupon every day.

It’s always exciting to read articles from other writers and practice a little
    something from their sites.
