In Her Closet – Episode 6 – Wonder Make Up Artist, Ara By Laide

I apologize for the late post but the cyber world decided to develop a mind of its own through the weekend. Remember you can catch up on all the previous episodes of this series right here on the blog. A year ago, she would have been referred to as an upcoming make up artist. But she has since evolved and claimed her rightful place in the industry. From bridal make up to movie sets, campaign shoots, musical videos and documentaries with Wole Soyinka, Olusegun Obasanjo, Hafsat Abiola and Olusegun Osoba, Creative Director of Ara By Laide Artistry, Olaide Banjo has carved her niche, owned her own and is here to stay. One would expect that to make her work which involves been on her feet for hours. she would throw on a pair of flip flops and get to work. But this is one MUA that pays attention to even herself and her total looks beyond satisfying her clients. Let’s get straight to the interview after the cut.  JAY: Your job as an MUA takes you around a lot and has you standing for a long period of time. What are your most comfortable work shoes?? LAIDE: I stand through most times while working so i feel comfortable in sneakers or flossys or doll shoes if i could wear scrubs i wont mind lol. JAY: What is your biggest pet peeve with shoes ( on you or other people) LAIDE: My biggest pet peeve is having to stand so long on stilettos as cool and as sexy they are they are so annoying to wear for a long while. I also hate when i...

In Her Closet – Episode 5 It’s His Perspective With Moses Ebite

The name Moses Ebite may not ring a bell to many, but Moashstyling would ring a loud bell to anyone who is in the business of fashion and styling and everything that comes with it. This was one interview that came so easy and I least expected it. Very down to earth and easy in his responses, Moses certainly made my heart smile. Moses Ebite is a fashion stylist who has worked with the biggest names in the entertainment industry. From Dakore Egbuson to Omotola Ekehinde, Anna Banner, Osas Ighodaro, Toke Makinwa , Eku Edewor, Bovi, Omoni Oboli to mention  a few.   He’s also worked with the best photographers Remi Adetiba, Kelechi Amadi Obi, Obi Somto, Moussa Moussa and many others. Curiosity did not kill this cat, it gave her exciting answers to his point of view on what he thinks should be in a lady’s closet. You can’t but enjoy this interview. After the Cut THE INTERVIEW JAY: You have some of the most fashionable women in the entertainment industry as your clients, what is style to you as regards female fashion?? MOSES: Style to me is Comfort. Everybody loves a comfortable woman, a woman wearing only a white male dress shirt and heels is stylish to me. JAY: In putting together a look for your client, how important is their footwear on a scale of 1- 10 and why? MOSES: The footwear is as important as the outfit and that’s 10/10 . A pair of good shoes can take an ordinary outfit from 0-100% JAY: Do you have any favorite female footwear brands? Luxury or highstreet? MOSES: Yes Of cos ! I love...

BUY RIGHT – Shoe Styling 101, The Thick And Short Legged

Just like we fit clothes according to our body shapes, we have to fit shoes the same way according to our leg types. It’s painful to the eyes seeing a woman uncomfortable in her outfit. She may be wearing the most expensive and gorgeous fashion pieces, but it counts for nothing when she looks like she needs help. I have been a victim of bad fashion choices and looking back at some pictures, i’m like “what in the world (or out of it) was I thinking???” I had to do some research and find out what would really work for me as opposed to following trends. Every woman, no matter the size, body type, height, skin tone can be a supermodel, all you need is know what works for you, add a dose of confidence and let the streets be your run way (actually stick to the sidewalks so u don’t get knocked down). I’d be sharing a few guidelines on buying the right pair of shoes according to different leg types starting with the Thick and short legged woman: usually have thick thighs and short legs with fat calves. If you find yourself in this category like Serena Williams, Alicia Keys and Jessica Simpson, I. Avoid wide ankle strap shoes or shoes that wrap around your feet/ankle, they tend to cut your legs into 2, making them look shorter. ii. Avoid overbearing patterned shoes or shoes with too many embellishments, they draw too much attention to your legs iii. Stick to heels like cone and block heels or platforms for a more balanced look. iv. Pointed pumps in nude tones are a...

The 73rd Golden Globe Awards – All The Hidden Shoes On The Red Carpet

A major Red carpet event of the year and certainly one of the biggest. At the 73rd Golden Globe Awards, all the stars came out to play. I am mostly always eager to see what the female celebrities have underneath their floor length dresses, but this year, i am taking a huge interest in the men too, seeing that men’s fashion has gone far beyond oxfords/tux and sneakers/jeans. Let’s see all the shoe moments we missed last night.     There’s always something to look forward to and this was certainly no different, my high point of the night was Denis O’Hare’s style? I love brave fashion and he pulled it off nicely....
