Maison Valentino : More Than Just The RockStud Pumps?
I see some fashion pieces and i’m thinking, who put in so much love and commitment and thought to this? Lately, i’ve been feeling this type of way about the valentino rockstud pumps but apart from the pumps, I haven’t paid so much attention to the brand as a whole. The Maison Valentino footwear brand is exactly why I am here today.
I visited the official site and some other luxury outlets and after what I saw, I knew I had to do a post.
Naturally, I was interested in knowing the creative director of the brand. There had been Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli as creative directors since 2008 but with the exit of Maria, Pierpaolo became sole Creative Director. This duo created the signature Rockstud Pumps to celebrate 50years of the brand in fall 2010.
“From the first days, the most important task on Valentino’s heritage has been to accomplish the perception, the idea and the essence of the Maison rather than reproposing pieces of its archive. It has been a creative process that took as a model the modus operandi of the Atelier of Couture. In other words, the human excellence portrayed in every single detail. From the fashion shows, to the collaborations, to the stores.” – Pierpaolo Piccioli , Creative Director
I won’t say I was disappointed in the collection, but I was hoping to see more. The designs pretty much followed the same pattern with alterations here and there. However, the rockstud sling back pumps remain the Master Piece of the brand.
The rockstud design now comes in the rolling rock stud which features the studs in antique silver/gold and colourful stones.
Then there’s the star studded Rockstud Pumps which features starstuds and stones
These 3 basic stud arrangements come in other styles such as the pumps, sandals, ballerina flats, boots, booties, sneakers.
Other designs outside the rockstud theme
One thing stands out with this brand, the luxury of the shoes can be felt without physically seeing them. From the use of calf skin to kidskin, antique gold and silver, crystals, velvet, suede, platinum finish heels and many more luxurious materials, they are worth everything they cost.
Even though their designs seem limited, they sure know how to play around with colors, textures and materials fusing them together to create a master piece with each pair. I’ve seen so many variations of the Clasic rockstuds and I can say I want them all.
