It’s Monday and a fresh start to get those goals. Some days, there’s just no zeal to get into anything higher than 1.5″. This Monday could be one of those days. I always say flat shoes don’t have to be boring. Leave the basic pairs and step out in the shoe pick of the day, the MIU MIU Pearl embellished Flat Nude Pumps. Other great steals similar to the MIU MIU pair can be found on ASOS. Shop them for as low as 20 pounds or N10,000. Have a great start to the week.   Peace, Love and More Shoes XOXO Jay  ...
#IssaThrow Back To My First Official Fashion Outing

#IssaThrow Back To My First Official Fashion Outing

Social media for me has been one of the best things in terms of networking and knowing a lot more about the fashion world generally. From Instagram to Pinterest, Twitter and even Facebook, the wealth of knowledge i have acquired is amazing. Being away from the fashion capital of the country would have slowed me down a lot but for the blessing of social media. I have wanted to attend the Lagos Fashion and Design Week for 4 years in a row and the distance just never made it work. But every Instagram post made me feel like i didn’t miss a thing. RELATED POST: LAGOS FASHION AND DESIGN WEEK Now that i moved to Port Harcourt, there has been more hope of having a lot more fashion related social hang outs and it didn’t take too long before the opportunity of one came by. I didn’t get to know about it until the day before when it popped up on my news feed.   Featuring the legendary artist and renowned photographer Kelechi Amadi Obi, who is also the Editor of Mania Magazine, Top wardrobe stylist Yummie Ogbebor and Ex-model cum Model Scout Bolajo Fawehinmi of FEW modelling agency, the Lagos Fashion and Design Week brought the Fashion Focus Talk to my city and i knew i wasn’t going to miss it for anything. It was my first opportunity to meet Yummie who is one stylist i fancy so much. RELATED: IN HER CLOSET WITH YUMMIE OGBEBOR Perfect timing, kids dropped off at summer school, i rushed to the venue for the 10.30 am program which didn’t start for another hour but...
Designer Focus – Avante Garde Footwear Designs That Are Jan Taminiau

Designer Focus – Avante Garde Footwear Designs That Are Jan Taminiau

When Beyonce dropped the 4 album back in 2011, she wore these outlandish shoes that mere mortals will only ever imagine for the album cover and campaign shoot. I stumbled upon the picture again recently and decided to find out more about the shoes. Turns out to be the creation of a dutch designer – JAN TAMINIAU. Taminiau is known for his love for traditional production techniques, antique materials, the search for the right shape and the penchant for aesthetics. His work has a refined, conceptual undertone yet never loses sight of the elegant, feminine and wearable form. I read in an article where he was quoted saying, “I create for the woman of my dreams, for her I produce my own fabrics, for her I discover new forms, techniques and research new materials. All to give women back the art of showing themselves, and thereby proving that romance, attraction, elegance and style still have an important role to play in today’s fashion.” See some more of his designs here     I can rock a few pairs here however avante garde they are. It’s no surprise Lady Gaga is big on this one. Would you invest in any of these? I think i will, just because #collections Peace, love and go gaga Xoxo Jay  ...
Woman Crush Wednesday – Bolanle Olukanni’s 90’s Inspired Party

Woman Crush Wednesday – Bolanle Olukanni’s 90’s Inspired Party

Bolanle Olukanni was one of my two favorite contestants for the Mo’s search competition on Ebony Life TV’s auditions for Co Hosts of the Moments With Mo program. It was the first time i heard anything about her and in four years of being on TV, becoming a compere, actress and over all a media personality, she has won my heart and that of many other people. What i love the most about her is her level of growth and the confidence she exudes. Fun loving yet reserved, full of laughter yet conservative but never afraid to tread new territories, she has made the world her own, leaving no stones unturned as it comes to her career. A Leo by birth, she had one of the most fun parties i had seen on social media in a while – #Bolanles90sjam Growing up in the 90’s myself, the decade of Aliyah, Da Brat, Foxy Brown and co, that was one party i would have loved to attend. It was a 90’s inspired themed party and the details that went into achieving it was a 100%. She’s that girl that can go from rachet looking to sexy and sultry and back to take home to mama in a switch. From a transformed body to a constantly upgraded closet , Bolanle is many shades beautiful. That party and the many times over the years that she has killed the fashion game on and off the red carpet plus her sass, wit and down to earth nature is why this stunner is my Woman Crush this Wednesday. All the cool kids came out to play, from Mimi Onalaja...
Momspiration Pt 3 – Gorgeous Actress Somkele Iyamah-Idhalama

Momspiration Pt 3 – Gorgeous Actress Somkele Iyamah-Idhalama

I think the first time i ever saw Somkele – Idhalama was a picture of her in an Andrea Iyama swim suit and i’m like “See that body”. Fast forward to when i saw her again in the series “Gidi Up” on Ndani TV and the way she interpreted her role as Yvonne the fashion designer got me hooked on the series. Because social media would always throw stuff in your face, i started to see her pop up everywhere till i hit the follow button on her Instagram profile one day and since then I’ve become a fan. From 93 Days to The Arbitration and then The Wedding Party, every role played was interpreted perfectly. She is a force to reckon with in Nollywood now and has bagged herself quite a number of recognizable awards. I most especially like the fact that she’s not in every screen play, you can tell that she carefully selects a good movie script before jumping at it. Her feisty but loving role as best friend and Maid of Honor to the bride in Ebony Life TV’s record breaking movie, The Wedding Party got my heart. You know those friends that will fight for you to the end even when it gets down to being physical?. She nailed it!!! Best part for me and why she is worthy of this momspiration post is that she’s a mummy. OMG, i almost choked when i saw a picture of her and her son and i’m like, “a baby came out of that body, howwwww???????” Somkele got married in 2014 and had a baby and her snap back...

Top Shoe Styles On Sales From New Look For N10,000 and Under.

Not many people may know or have heard about the brand New Look, but if you know, you certainly know. I have worn the brand since my days in University and when i need some high street love that is friendly to my pocket, i still look to them. With as little (or as much) as N10,000, you can have a pair too. For those who don’t know New Look is a South African-owned British global fashion retailer, founded in 1969, with a chain of high street shops all around the world. Over the years, i have mastered (in every sense of the word) the art of picking their best pieces. I have retailed their shoes too and so can tell a bad choice almost as soon as i see it. I’d always consider them as one of my favorite go to high street brands when my budget would not let me splurge and i’m in need of some retail therapy… What girl doesn’t always need one? RELATED POST: SHOE THRIFTING IN THE HEART OF LAGOS WITH NIMIDE I have shoes from New Look that have lasted me 6 years with little or no damages. And i have been unlucky to have copped some that didn’t last more than a few wears. But now i know the difference and have a smarter way of choosing them and so i no longer fall prey to bad choices. Best part is they go on sale every now and then and you can catch sales on there for up to 70% off sometimes. And because it’s Tuesday and it’s Shoes day, i will be sharing some...
