DIY – Create Some More Room In Those Tight Shoes

DIY – Create Some More Room In Those Tight Shoes

I recently copped these Dorothy Perkins Laser Cut Pumps in a nude color and i had been super excited about wearing them. Fast forward to Church the following Sunday, i had not taken more than a few steps and they started to bite, i mean bite really hard. Half way into the service, they were off so i could wiggle my toes. Tight shoes can be a mess. A few years ago, that would have been the last time i’d wear them, but because i have been forced to give out many shoes i love, i knew i had to find a solution. Those shoes were a size 8, there’s no way i would not be able to wear them. So i put some hacks i had learned to use, which i should have done prior to that. In 5 easy ways, here’s how to get more room in those snug shoes you’re not ready to let go of. It could be they came a half size small or you’re dealing with pregnancy feet. The best thing to do most times is to wear them around the house with a thick pair of socks the day you get them. Yup, make your living room your run way and strut in those babies for more than a few minutes. Do that a few times everyday till you actually get to wear them out. But for more effective stretching methods, try any of these or a combination. STRETCH THEM IN A FREEZER: Yep you read that right, it’s just basic science. All you need to do is fill a ziploc bag...

Pom Poms, Feathers And Fur Because It’s Tuesday And It’s Shoesday.

No more just a pair of in house footwear, the Pom Pom, feathers and fur shoe trend is one that has come to stay as a fashion statement piece. From Carrie Bradshaw’s Dolce and Gabanna Fur Sandals featured in the HBO Sex And The City series to Paul Andrew’s 2017 Fall/Winter Feather sandals at the 2017 New York Fashion Week, the trend has evolved over the years and looks like it’s going no where.   From the high end luxury designers to the high street brands, there is a pair for everyone and because it’s Tuesday and it’s shoes day, here are some amazing designs that would make you want to jump on this trend. They are the perfect way to put some sass and details to a seemingly boring outfit.         There’s so many styles with this trend and after much debate on personal choices, i hopped on a pair. For the high end designers, you will part with $500 upwards while the high street brands sell for between $30 and $100 (N10,000 and above). You can shop for this trend HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE depending on what you’re looking for. And of course from the retail side of life with Sole Divas. Best part is with a pair of barely there sandals or plain pumps you want to add some vibes to, you can make a pair of your own and save some cash. In these easy picture steps i got from DAMASK LOVE, you are well on your way to adding some sass to your footwear closet.          ...
From Imagination To Paper and On Your Feet: It All starts With A Sketch!!!

From Imagination To Paper and On Your Feet: It All starts With A Sketch!!!

In recent times i have been trying my hands on shoe sketching. I would say i generally suck when it comes to drawing, so i’ve had to go back to the basics. I’m not perfect yet, it doesn’t necessarily have to be perfect, but there’s an amazing feeling that comes with being able to interpret those ideas in your head on paper with a sketch. RELATED POST: THE AMAZING ARTWORK OF SOPHIA WEBSTER For every time i go into a stationery store now, i am collecting colored pencils and sketch pads and drawing pencils, it’s my new obsession. Of course I’ve had to look up to some of my favorite footwear designers for inspiration and guidance and it’s great to see that many of these shoes start with a sketch. You own it when you can add this and take that out and adjust this till you get just what it is you’re looking to create. Manolo Blahnik by far has the most collection of sketches and this book Manolo Blahnik Drawings is up on my next “To Buy” list. (Hint Hint – Christmas never can come too early) From Giuseppe Zanotti to Paul Andrew, Blahnik and Jimmy Choo, here are a few of the sketches from which their shoes came to life.         And some more…               Whether they do it themselves or pay people to do it for them, seeing these designs on paper brings some measure of excitment. Manolo Blahnik is by far the God Father of soles, his originality and creativity cannot be rivaled. Let me go back...

Diary Of A Shoe Lover – Season 2, Episode 8- This is Where The Story Ends…

It’s been an amazing 2 seasons in this mini series “The Diary Of A Shoe Lover”. I trust you guys have enjoyed the story so far. What started out to be the story of a girl who was in love with shoes and would clean her bank account dry to get her favorite pair, grew into the lives, times and experiences of three women and their loved ones. I enjoyed writing every episode and i like how i was able to get lost in each character. Your favorite series will come to an end with this episode and i hope you’ve learned a few lessons or can relate to some of the experiences. Enjoy and share your thoughts. Xoxo, Jay. Read Episode 7 Here The store launch was a massive success, everyone came out in their numbers to support us. Family, friends, even my ex colleagues and bosses were there. It had been the busiest 2 months of my entire life, like literally. From the last 3 events of Aishat’s wedding to my vacation to Hawaii and back to get ready for the store opening and then my surprise baby shower, which wasn’t so much a surprise, as i knew it was coming. The days and weeks past had been full of activities. Now was the time i needed to really rest. I was due to have my babies in 8 weeks and the gynecologist we were seeing, as Hakeem never allowed me go for any appointment without him, had hinted i’d most likely not carry the pregnancy to the full term of 40 weeks because it was a multiple...
Diary Of A SHoe Lover S2 Episode 7 – In His Time He Makes All Things Beautiful!!

Diary Of A SHoe Lover S2 Episode 7 – In His Time He Makes All Things Beautiful!!

Read Episode 6 here “Go Ai, go Ai, go Ai” I screamed at the top of my voice, attempting to compete with the booming sounds from the Bangs and Olusfen speakers in my living room. Wizkid’s Daddy Yo was playing and Aishat was giving us out of this world steps. It felt like our University years again. How I missed those days so much, when all we worried about were boys, making good grades and wearing the best clothes. *sigh* Tonight it was all about Aishat, her journey to being Mrs Timehin Bob Egbe was in full gear and we were going all into it. The family introduction had taken place about 2months after the proposal. We had all gone to the north, to Kano, Aishat’s home town. You would never believe the kind of wealth she was born into. Her father’s mansion was like a city on its own. I mean it was big enough to comfortably accommodate all of us that went with her. It was so much fun and we stayed a few extra days to see enough of the city before we headed back to Lagos. Now this was part two, her bridal shower, almost another 2months after the introduction. The traditional marriage was coming up in the next 2 weeks and the pre-wedding dinner and finally the white wedding the week after. The running around had been such a task. With Ivie nursing Osagie, I was left to do most of the work. She came back to Nigeria as soon as he clocked 3months, so she had missed the introduction. We had been planning...
Diary Of A Shoe Lover, Season 2 Episode 3 – Finding Peace

Diary Of A Shoe Lover, Season 2 Episode 3 – Finding Peace

Read Season 2 Episode 2 Here “I really needed this holiday” Aishat said, rolling over to her back.   “I think I needed it more, I feel so alive being away from it all. It’s been a crazy past week.”  Ivie replied taking a sip of her Caipirinha.  Three of us in Rio De Janeiro, we had decided to go on vacation for a week to get away from the troubles surrounding our once problem free lives. Everyday, being an adult seemed more unappealing. After Ivie’s revelation of Eddy’s escapades that had led to him getting his girlfriend pregnant, I felt like the world was crashing down on me. For more than a moment, it wasn’t about Ivie or the immense hurt she must be going through, it became about me. A terrible fear overtook me. If Eddy who had a beautiful daughter and another baby on the way could have an extra marital affair that had led to pregnancy, what was my fate? Me, who couldn’t even miss a menstrual period not to talk of the likelihood of getting pregnant. I did all I could to mask my fears that day and even as I cried along with Ivie and Aisha, none of them would have guessed the real reason behind my uncontrollable tears. After crying to our hearts fill, Aishat suggested we pray. And pray we did, asking God for peace and healing and grace not to lose ourselves in the midst of the curve balls life was throwing our way. It was a welcome idea by Aisha to get away and we had chosen Brazil. My mum...
