DIY – Create Some More Room In Those Tight Shoes

DIY – Create Some More Room In Those Tight Shoes

I recently copped these Dorothy Perkins Laser Cut Pumps in a nude color and i had been super excited about wearing them. Fast forward to Church the following Sunday, i had not taken more than a few steps and they started to bite, i mean bite really hard. Half way into the service, they were off so i could wiggle my toes. Tight shoes can be a mess. A few years ago, that would have been the last time i’d wear them, but because i have been forced to give out many shoes i love, i knew i had to find a solution. Those shoes were a size 8, there’s no way i would not be able to wear them. So i put some hacks i had learned to use, which i should have done prior to that. In 5 easy ways, here’s how to get more room in those snug shoes you’re not ready to let go of. It could be they came a half size small or you’re dealing with pregnancy feet. The best thing to do most times is to wear them around the house with a thick pair of socks the day you get them. Yup, make your living room your run way and strut in those babies for more than a few minutes. Do that a few times everyday till you actually get to wear them out. But for more effective stretching methods, try any of these or a combination. STRETCH THEM IN A FREEZER: Yep you read that right, it’s just basic science. All you need to do is fill a ziploc bag...
#IssaThrow Back To My First Official Fashion Outing

#IssaThrow Back To My First Official Fashion Outing

Social media for me has been one of the best things in terms of networking and knowing a lot more about the fashion world generally. From Instagram to Pinterest, Twitter and even Facebook, the wealth of knowledge i have acquired is amazing. Being away from the fashion capital of the country would have slowed me down a lot but for the blessing of social media. I have wanted to attend the Lagos Fashion and Design Week for 4 years in a row and the distance just never made it work. But every Instagram post made me feel like i didn’t miss a thing. RELATED POST: LAGOS FASHION AND DESIGN WEEK Now that i moved to Port Harcourt, there has been more hope of having a lot more fashion related social hang outs and it didn’t take too long before the opportunity of one came by. I didn’t get to know about it until the day before when it popped up on my news feed.   Featuring the legendary artist and renowned photographer Kelechi Amadi Obi, who is also the Editor of Mania Magazine, Top wardrobe stylist Yummie Ogbebor and Ex-model cum Model Scout Bolajo Fawehinmi of FEW modelling agency, the Lagos Fashion and Design Week brought the Fashion Focus Talk to my city and i knew i wasn’t going to miss it for anything. It was my first opportunity to meet Yummie who is one stylist i fancy so much. RELATED: IN HER CLOSET WITH YUMMIE OGBEBOR Perfect timing, kids dropped off at summer school, i rushed to the venue for the 10.30 am program which didn’t start for another hour but...
Outside My Obsession With Shoes, These Are My Other Favorite Things!!!

Outside My Obsession With Shoes, These Are My Other Favorite Things!!!

I have been accused of being selfish on the blog because all i talk about is shoes… but that’s what happens when you’re obsessed…Lol! So today, i’d shift my focus away from shoes for a minute. If you’ve wondered what else it is that gets my attention outside shoes, then they’d be…   Dresses – I like that they are a one piece and very feminine, i have a few favorite styles for my body type and would fill my future closet with 70% dresses. Jeans Trousers – Bring them on in anyway, as long as they have a good fit, i’m in. Sunglasses – I like them really dramatic and detailed.. Bags – Classic handbags are my favorite, i would invest in classic ones but won’t necessarily go over board. In that particular order, every other thing considered a fashion accessory is not exactly so important as long as i have a decent amount of them as i need them. Anyway, today will be dedicated to BAGS. 70% of the non shoe lovers i have met are obsessed with their bags, 85% of the shoe lovers i have met have bags as their second obsession. I won’t really go out of my way to ogle bags (save for these days when i’m styling a client), but i can’t deny they are a real fashion statement. For the purpose of this post, i have come up with a collection of bags from luxury brands that will legit make my wish list (Here’s hoping Santa is reading this post). Luxury hand bags are an investment piece, i mean the fact that...
It’s Tuessay ShoesDay And Rihanna Has My Heart, Forever!!!

It’s Tuessay ShoesDay And Rihanna Has My Heart, Forever!!!

Rihanna: Born 20 February 1988 in Barbados Jay: Born 30 April 1988 in Lagos, Nigeria About 60 days apart, she came out earlier to work my spirit animal. Rihanna is a lot in personality what I’d most likely be under different circumstances. I love her, period!!! Back to why I’m here, everyone has been buzzing about her latest collaboration with the legend Manolo Blahnik and me I’m just here sipping tea trying to digest the whole “shoetiation”. Last year, I thought they killed it together with the launch of the Denim collection that had Jennifer Lopez rocking a pair in her music video. I saw this new collection and I’m totally taken. These pieces are in a class of their own. Nude, PVC and precious stones in 3 varying styles. This is what happens when 2 artists come together, #Issacreativeexplosion. EVERY woman would want a pair of one of these, tell me why not, call them over rated and I’d show you a hater… This post should make you think again. OMG, drool with me, but I have to go now. Peace, Love and Work (Get it? Work work work work work) Xoxo...
ShoesDay Tuesday – Shoe Thrift Shopping In The Heart Of Lagos.

ShoesDay Tuesday – Shoe Thrift Shopping In The Heart Of Lagos.

Addicted to my Instagram timeline as always, I came across some posts from my friend and ex school mate, Nimide. Remember when she was shoespiration?. Nimide has an amazing taste for shoes, at least my kind of amazing. She could easily shop shoes for me and I’d have not a single complaint. We met up in Lagos during my last visit and talked about shoes (Of Course). Then she told me about a place I had heard of in the past called VESPA. It’s a thrift market for shoes. And this right here is why I love Nimide. Not everyone earns in 7 figures and not everyone can afford to spend 70% of their pay on shoes just to keep up. Being the queen of “stay in your lane” and “face your reality”, I was more than curious to find out more from her about the market and how it works. The plan was to go there together but distance would not let me be great. I thought it’d be really unfair to hoard this great find from you guys. With all these buys by Nimide, I don’t even need to go there to know it’s the place to be. So if you are a shoe lover or have a shoe fetish but can’t afford all the luxury brands or deal with the exchange rate and don’t have the opportunity to go abroad to shop first hand, this post is for you. You would rock your Vespa shoes and no one will ever be able to tell where and how you got them except you tell. After stalking Nims...

Diary Of A Shoe Lover – Season 2, Episode 4- Moving On

Read Episode 3 Here Life really does go on, it’s been a few months since our vacation to Brazil and we are all moving on like nothing happened. Ivie was back in her home, almost due to have her baby. We had a surprise baby shower for her last weekend and it was really beautiful. We went all out for  her with a tiffany blue theme, lots of glam, beautiful gifts and a generally lovely time with friends and family in Aisha’s house. She deserved all the love. Eddy was doing all he could to make things better with her – shopping sprees, lunch dates and date nights and very recently, a brand new Mercedez Benz G-Wagon.   “I’m happy to see that things are going on well with you and Eddy, giirrrrllll that G-baby is the real baby” I said, having a light cocktail with Ivie on the night of the baby shower.     She smiled “It’s nice to have all these things Salewa, I love the life of luxury. But you see, ‘things’ don’t cover the matters of the heart. You know, I still struggle with forgiving Eddy fully. I mean there are days I can’t stand the sight of him, days I don’t believe one word he says, days I just want to be lost in his arms cos I love him so much. It has only been the grace of God and now I’m learning to take it one day at a time and pray for God to restore things or at least take the bitterness and anger away completely” She said as she...
